| Mimaki showcases UJF-8366, a new UV LED curing CTP and Film setter at IPEX 2010 |

Nagano, May 7, 2010. Mimaki Engineering Co. Ltd. (President: Akira Ikeda; Headquarters: Nagano, Japan) presents at IPEX in Birmingham from May 18 to May 25, hall 12, C120, its latest innovation for CtP and film generation, the UJF-8366. The device utilizes UV LED curing inkjet technology for production of CtP plates and films for screenprinting.
The UJF-8366 features a maximum resolution of 2400 x 2400 dpi, enabling a line screen of 175 lpi on metal plates and films. The plates can, after printing, be immediately put on press thus enabling processless CtP production at print shops. |

Processless plate and film production
UJF-8366 enables processless plate and film production, thus costs for processors that are used in conventional CtP systems are eliminated. Plates can be put directly on press after imaging enabling a true processless plate production that accommodates print runs of up to 50,000. |

High resolution print
The compact inkjet CtP and filmsetter achieves a maximum resolution of 2400 x 2400 dpi. The flatbed mechanism is supported by several new technological developments for highly accurate dot placement and very fine dots at a maximum of 175 lpi with AM screens on aluminum plates and film. |

UV LED curing
UV LED curing does not generate high temperatures thus reducing and/or eliminating thermal deformation of films or plates when imaging. |

Imaging of metal plates for offset printing
While traditional photolithographic processes for plate production require a plate processor including chemicals, Mimaki's new UJF-8366 produces plates that can be immediately put on press after having been inkjet printed.

The platesetter utilizes Mimaki's aluminum plates (0.24 mm thickness; 0.30 mm to be announced) that have been specifically developed for imaging in the UJF-8366. The plate features a newly developed graining that enables accurate and fine dot reproduction by ink jetting and UV LED curing. The plate provides a run length of up to 50,000 (without baking) and shows a comparable ink/water balance with its specifically developed hydrophilic coating. |
